About Us

Type 3 body shell in the ISP West showroom in Carson, California

Type 3 specialists since 1990

Keeping Type 3s on the road.

For more than 35 years we've restored, repaired and driven Squarebacks, Fastbacks, Notchbacks and Type 34 Ghias. Today we put that experience into the parts you need to keep yours going.

Our mission

Keep every Type 3 on the road.

Every part we sell helps fund the next one we develop. That's how a small shop in Carson, California keeps adding new parts for the Squareback, Fastback, Notchback and Type 34 Ghia community.

Our story

35+ years of Type 3s

Since 1990, ISP West has specialized in Type 3 parts and restoration. Decades of hands-on work with these cars go into every part we develop and every question we answer.

Looking for the part nobody else has?

If you own a Type 3, you know the hardest part of keeping it on the road usually isn't the work. It's finding the parts. Many haven't been made in decades, and what's left is often worn out, incomplete, or made for a Beetle.

That's the problem we've spent our careers on. ISP West is a Type 3 specialty shop that is 100% dedicated to bringing new Type 3 parts to market, and every sale goes back into developing the next one.

01

Parts that aren't made anymore

We research, reproduce and stock the parts Type 3 owners struggle to find, from rubber seals and moldings to door rebuild and interior kits.

02

Built on restoration experience

We've taken these cars apart and put them back together in our own shop for decades. When we develop a part, we know how it should fit because we've fitted the original.

Real answers from Type 3 people

Not sure what you need? Ask us. We'd rather help you find the right part the first time than sell you the wrong one.

What Type 3 owners say

Brad T.

Such an incredible asset to the VW restoration community. They are patient, kind and knowledgeable with the umteem bizillion questions that us hobbyists have to ask when restoring vintage VWs.

Shane S.

American home for the Type 3 VW enthusiast! Squareback, Fastback, or Notchback, they have you covered! Very personable and kind both online and in person!

Lewis S.

I have bought parts, and had them do some rust repair body work at the shop. If you want the best, go to ISP West.
