Made by Flat-4 in Japan
Until now, steering wheels from 1956-1959 models had not been reproduced.
Meaning the only options were to restore an original or acquire a restored one.
However, steering wheel restoration is not only costly and time-consuming, but it can also result in the loss of distinctive details.
Now, it is possible to install a brand new steering wheel with the original beauty at a reasonable price.
Owners of 1956-1959 TYPE-1 (1956-1957 K.GHIA) should definitely consider replacing their car's steering wheel with a FLAT4 original to achieve a beautifully finished interior!
Note:
- The '56-'59 style steering wheel, also known as the "oval steering wheel," looks the same, but the number of splines differs depending on the model year.
- Models from '56 to October '57 (CH#~1 320 178) have 24 splines
- While models from October '57 (CH#1 320 179~) to '59 have 48 splines.
- The 48-spline specification allows for finer positioning of the steering wheel relative to the steering shaft after tie rod adjustment.
- While the steering shaft itself remains 24 splines up to the '59 model year
- Both 24-spline and 48-spline steering wheels can be fitted.
- The newly reproduced FLAT4 '56-'59 style steering wheel uses 48 splines, enabling even finer steering wheel position adjustment.
Fits:
- 1956-1959 Beetle
- 1956-1957 Karmann Ghia
